Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation that consists of using a 10 gauge scalpel to gently exfoliate the top player of dulling dead skin cells in order to reveal a smooth, bright complexion.

This treatment is a favourite amongst the entertainment industry because it not only exfoliates the skin, it also removes the “peach fuzz” that we find on our face. Dermaplaning also allows for greater penetration of skincare products and creates a flawless canvas for makeup to glide on smoothly. Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical, non-chemical, non-invasive method of skin resurfacing. This gentle skin refinishing causes the dead skin layers to be removed along with the skin’s impurities. The skin is exfoliated, resulting in firmer, more youthful looking skin.

Over time, this repeated process stimulates the production layer of skin cells, bringing with it an increased level of collagen and elastin, improving the skin’s appearance.

Glycolic/AHA Peels

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) are mild, naturally occurring acids that help soften and remove the stiff, damaged cells on the skin’s surface.

Glycolic Peels (AHA’s & BHA’s) are a simple and controlled procedure, which removes dead surface cells revealing the fresh, undamaged skin underneath. Peels are available in various concentrations ranging from 15% to 70% glycolic acid (derived from sugar cane). A certified specialist applies glycolic acid on cleansed skin for 2 to 10 minutes as required. It is then neutralized and followed by a post peel emollient. Glycolic Peels offer added advantages with visible results with the first procedure.

Lactic Acid peels

Similar to glycolic acid peels, lactic acid peels are alpha hydroxy acids (AHA). Derived from milk, they are very mild chemical peels with little to no downtime. Because lactic acid is a natural human metabolite, there is less chance of an allergic occurrence with this peel. Therefore, they are a good choice for first-time peel users or for those with sensitive skin. However, dry or oily skin types can also use this peel and get good results. Lactic acid is especially good for to use for mature skin.

Salicylic Acid peels

Salicylic Acid, a Beta-Hydroxy Acid (BHA), is a highly effective superficial peeling agent, oil reducer and pore cleanser. Salicylic acid is one of the most effective ingredients to combat oily skin, yet it is also a gentle rejuvenating peel that is an alternative to a Glycolic Acid Peel.

Salicylic acid is ideal for oily/acneic skin, clogged pores and seborrheic dermatitis. At a concentration of 10 to 30 %, salicylic acid peels have a much higher level of concentration than drugstore salicylic acne creams, which are typically at 1 to 5%. At a high concentration level (30%), salicylic acid acts as a peeling agent dissolving the top layer of the epidermis and resurfacing the skin, resulting in a smoother and healthier complexion. A Salicylic Acid Peel is also beneficial for dehydrated/dry and sensitive skin, sun damaged, dull and uneven skin. And it helps reduce acne inflammation, psoriasis, ingrown hairs, wrinkles and fine lines while improving texture and clarity.
